Canmore's health care system combines the equipment, technology and qualified, professional staff of any large city with the personal, caring service of a small town.

The Canmore General Hospital offers 24 hour Emergency Care, Obstetrics, Pediatrics and General Medicine and the Bow Valley Cancer Clinic, a satellite to the Tom Baker Centre in Calgary.  Canmore General Hospital has a well developed surgical program for plastics, orthopedics, endoscopy and general surgery, serving as a referral center for patients from Canada.  With 18 acute care beds (expandable to 25), 2 Special Care Unit beds, 2 Labor and Delivery Rooms and 23 Long Term Care beds in a comfortable extended-care wing.

An Advanced Life Support ground transport through the Town of Canmore Emergency Services, as well as an approved helipad at Canmore General Hospital that accommodates heli-ambulance service and transfers.  Primary referral centers include Foothills Hospital Medical Centre - Calgary and Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, immediately to the west.

There are a minimum of 35 Physicians at any given time, with specialties in general surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, radiology, psychiatry, pediatrics, ophthalmology, dermatology, cardiology, neurology and gynecology.

Next door, the world renowned Canmore Pain Clinic helps patients from around the globe deal with chronic pain problems. Several sports injuries clinics, four family medical clinics, the Bow River Seniors Lodge and in-home health care services, plus several alternative health care facilities give complete and compassionate health care to residents of all ages.
