This important and innovative community planning process will incorporate the values and principles from Canmore's Mining the Future vision with municipal development planning (MDP) and community sustainability planning requirements.

The resulting Canmore Community Sustainability Plan (CCSP) will be a comprehensive, strategic level planning document that provides the Town of Canmore with clear direction and policy on matters of social, economic and environmental sustainability, and land use planning. 

• the input of good information (e.g. Growth Study, review of existing MDP, Mining the Future, Natural Step, mapping, existing approvals);
• a community engagement process that continues to build the capacity of residents for meaningful involvement in local decision-making;
• a community sustainability plan that provides clear direction, meets all legal planning requirements and addresses expressed community issues; and
• an implementation and monitoring plan
